A tiger was on the loose Friday evening after escaping from a circus in the 15th Arrondissement of Paris and was shot and killed by the tiger's handlers, multiple French outlets reported.

The incident took place at 6 p.m. local time in a busy area of Paris, near shops that were filled with Black Friday customers.

According to local police, the danger has passed.

The incident caused a disruption of rail service. It has since been restored.

The BBC reported that no humans were injured by Friday's incident. It is unknown how the tiger escaped.
