PUT-IN-BAY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A recent graduate from Rocky River was killed in a crash involving a utility vehicle on South Bass Island in Put-in-Bay Township Thursday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Patrick M. Green, 19, was a passenger on a 2013 Can-AM UTV that flipped over during a sharp turn at high speeds.

The crash happened in the 800 block of West Shore Boulevard around 8 p.m.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said that Green and the UTV’s driver, an 18-year-old teen also from Rocky River, were not wearing seatbelts.

Alcohol and or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.

The Rocky River School District is holding grief counseling at the high school Saturday.

Green was a recent graduate of Rocky River High School and football player for the Rocky River Pirates.

Rocky River football coach Josh Wells said Green was his best punter, and he will be greatly missed.

"Patrick was such a great, fun loving friend to everybody," Wells said. "Patrick was such a great, fun loving friend to everybody,” Wells said.

Students gathered outside the high school Saturday at a makeshift memorial. One student said "nothing we can say about him will do him justice."

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. took to Twitter Saturday evening to send Green's family condolences after finding out Green was a fan of his.
