Across the state, eight people lost their lives in four traffic crashes during the Fourth of July holiday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Impairment was a factor in at least one of the crashes.
OSHP also reported 296 OVI arrests, 276 arrests for drug-related charges and a total of 297 crashes.
Last year, highway patrol reported 21 fatal crashes that killed 21 people, which included eight OVI-related fatal crashes that took eight lives.
