CLEVELAND — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources announced more than 100,000 rainbow trout will be stock in 66 Ohio public lakes, creating good fishing opportunities for anglers across Ohio, according to a release from ODNR.

The first trout release is scheduled for Friday, March 8, at Adams Lake in Adam County with the remaining releases taking place across Ohio from March 8 through May 19 as long as the areas are free of ice and are accessible to anglers.

ODNR says many of the locations that are stocked with trout will have special events.

Information on release dates at your nearest public lake can be found here.

The rainbow trout are raised at state fish hatcheries and measure 10-13 inches when they are stocked by ODNR Division of Wildlife. The daily catch limit for anglers is five, according to the release.

All anglers 16 and older are required to have an Ohio fishing license to fish in state public waters. Licenses are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. Permits and licenses can be purchased here or at participating agents across the state.
