MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 29-year-old motorcyclist from Mansfield was seriously injured in a crash Thursday night when a Chevrolet Impala turned in front of him and the vehicles collided.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 10 p.m. on U.S. Route 30 near County Road 1095 in Mifflin Township.

When the motorcyclist struck the Impala, he was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries, OSHP stated. The Impala caught fire, but its 31-year-old driver escaped unharmed.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred, OSHP said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but OSHP said speed may be a factor.
