Ohio University police warn students about 2 armed robberies on campus

ATHENS, Ohio — Two armed robberies occurred on the Ohio University Campus in Athens early Thursday morning, according to a post by campus police.

The robberies happened at two different locations on campus. The first one was on North McKinley at Pickering Hall and the second one was at Shaffer Street and Union Avenue.

The alleged robber used a silver pistol who fled in an older 4-door sedan.

Police are warning students to not walk alone at night. Students are encourage to download the bobcat safe app, which includes features like Friend Walk, support resources and safety notifications.

Ohio University also offers night and weekend campus shuttles that are free for students and faculty/staff.

Hours for the campus shuttles are Monday through Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 9:30 p.m. to 3 a..m.
