Urbana University issued a “shelter in place” alert to students and staff after university police received a report of a shot fired Tuesday afternoon.
The Office of Security for the small university in Urbana, west of Columbus, received the report just after 2 p.m., according to a Facebook post by school officials. The Urbana Police Department was immediately contacted and a “shelter in place” notification was sent to all students, staff and faculty.
An “all clear” notification was sent out within 20 minutes upon received clearance from responding officers, university officials said.
