A Warrensville Heights family is looking for closure in their 21-year old-daughter's tragic death, but the case is still under investigation.
The family told newsnet5.com their daughter, Brittany Johnson, was killed after she fell out of a 6th floor window at the Highland Woods Apartments on May 19.
The family continues to look for answers, but for now they're left to wonder if their daughter took her own life or was the victim of a terrible accident or foul play.
Sonya Johnson said her daughter had just obtained a new job and had been accepted to go back to college, that there were no signs her daughter was depressed.
"She was so happy," Johnson said she did not sound like a person who wanted to do something to herself. "She was ecstatic to start college again."
Just hours before her death the family reports Brittany seemed fine; she repaired her mother's car, played cards and left to get diapers for her two-year-old son.
But three hours later, her body was found underneath the window by a security guard.
Brittany's father, Ken McDavid, told newsnet5.com the apartment complex management confirmed the window was monitored by a surveillance camera. But the family said when they asked to see the video, they were turned away.
"We went to see the video, they told us you can't see the video. It's a police investigation; you need to go to the police department," McDavid said.
"I asked a couple more questions; and I said, well, I'll go to the police department. I went to the police department, talked to the detective; the detective said they don't have the video."
"All we want are some answers."
The family said toxicology reports on their daughter won't be completed for at least another week.
