BEACHWOOD, Ohio — A 13-year-old has done something most people dream about, she's opened her own business.
Cherish Marie opened Kohcoa Gourmet Chocolate Bar at Beachwood Place a few weeks ago.
Cherish said she and her mother make over-the-top food at home all the time.
"My mom was going to throw me a birthday party but when COVID-19 came back she told me we couldn’t have it and that she wanted to give me a good 13th birthday. We came up with the idea together because we were making hot chocolate at home already and my mom said that I can be an entrepreneur for myself," Cherish said.
Cherish said she's taking extra precautions with her shop due to the pandemic and her mother has been a major help.
"I know my mom didn’t have a lot of money but she used the money she saved to open the business because she wants me to know how to work for myself just in case, the world doesn’t go back to normal," Cherish said.
The shop is only open on the weekends, so it doesn't impact her school work.
Cherish has an important message for anyone that dreams of starting their own business.
"I want everyone to know no matter who you are or how little you are you can do anything," Cherish said.
