CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Lots of families have been playing more board games at home these days, and now, Cleveland Heights is channeling that pastime in a fun way to also help local small businesses.
The city just launched a program called "Shop Local Bingo."
Here's how it works: Every Friday, a new bingo card is released featuring 24 local businesses. If customers visit all of the businesses in any given row, they'll be entered into a weekly drawing to win two $25 gift cards to businesses of their choice.
For business owners, especially in the city's Coventry Village district, it's a way to draw in customers and thank them for their support.
“Coventry is well known from even back in the 70s for being a place that is all mom and pop shops, and the neighborhood has always helped them get through the tough times,” said Tom Fello, owner of Tommy’s Restaurant. “And this is probably one of the toughest times I've ever seen in 49 years of being in business.”
To submit the bingo cards, just take a photo of yourself with receipts from each business, and email it or send it to the city's social media pages.
