New dog park bar coming to Tremont

CLEVELAND — Picture it. A beautiful, sunny day in Cleveland. You take your dog to the park for a fun afternoon of jumping, running, and chasing. What could make that day even better? How about a refreshing drink and a delicious plate of food while you watch your pup play?

That’s the idea behind a new dog park bar coming to Tremont.

Taps and Tails is the brainchild of owner Lisa Hollender. She said the idea was born from her own experience with her Australian Shepherd, wishing there was a place where both dogs and humans could have fun.

“Dog parks, we were bored on the side while the dogs were having fun. We enjoy taking our dogs to restaurants, [but] the dogs weren’t having fun, they were tied to a table. So we brought the best of both worlds and create a dog bar," she said.

The space, located at 1901 Train Avenue, features both indoor and outdoor areas so it can be used year-round.

For the four-legged customers, there are jungle gyms and toys to keep them occupied, as well as so-called “Bark Rangers” to watch them and keep them safe.

For humans, there is a full menu of drinks and food to enjoy. The venue also plans to collaborate with local food trucks to keep the food options fresh.

Hollender said they originally planned to open in the summer of 2020 were delayed because of the pandemic. They now hope to open their doors in February. You can keep up to date on the opening plans and learn more about what they will offer on their website or Facebook.
