PARMA, Ohio — This Mother’s Day will feel a little different this year, but that’s not stopping Pawlaks Florist and Breads and Beyond Bakery in Parma from making sure customers can buy all the necessary sweet treats and flowers to celebrate their mother.
The phones have been ringing off the hook at Pawlaks Florist, 5264 State Road, in Parma. Most of the customers are making their orders just in time for Mother’s Day.
"It's absolutely our biggest holiday of the year,” said Shana Denovchek, owner of Pawlaks Florist.
Denovchek has owned the area staple for the last five years.
"We're a sympathy heavy florist, we do a lot of business with local funeral homes," she said.
As social distancing continues, people are sending gifts to loved ones just because.
"I don't think I've sold more balloons in my life, but but people want to celebrate and have a party and they cant so they send balloons, chocolates gifts whatever it feels even more like a celebration,” she said.
Celebrations will be in full force for Mother’s Day, so the florist is adapting to make the day a little more special by offering curbside pickup and contact-less delivery.
"We'll be delivering every day including Sunday and we'll be here until the last order goes out."
Just up State Road, Breads and Beyond Bakery is making a special menu just for Mother’s Day.
"We're doing a nine inch cookie cake, specialty decorated for mother's day, a special mother's day fudge cake, chocolate dipped strawberries and Mother's Day cookies and cupcakes,” said owner Robert Uhlr.
Pandemic safety precautions are in effect. The business is only letting two customers in the store at a time, but the bakery is offering curbside pick up to go.
“Call ahead and if you have an issue coming in, we will bring the food out to you,” said Uhlr.
Mother's do it all and during this pandemic they are working extra hard.
"Don't forget mom, just because of what's going on, in fact she's probably taken on more of a burden now then before, so she deserves something extra special on that day."
