MENTOR, Ohio — Zappitelli’s in Mentor has been around for 34 years, serving up Old World dishes from recipes handed down from generation to generation. They’ve been through a lot, including during the pandemic, which isn’t stopping them from serving up authentic Italian cuisine to a hunger community.
The business initially took a major financial hit when Gov. Mike DeWine ordered restaurants to close their dining operations in the middle of March.
But since that bump in the road, the business has picked back up thanks to carry out orders.
Zappitelli’s has everything from pizza to homemade meatballs and chicken Parmesan.
The recipes are generations old and top secret.
The owner uses recipes he's used from the get go, when it come to sauce, meatballs, lasagna.
"I feel like it's old style food with a family atmosphere and feel like we're just constantly finding ways to be part of the community," Justin Macumber, Zappitelli's chef.
Right now, Zappitelli’s is offering catering and specials throughout the week.
