A federal judge has denied a request from Steve Bannon to stay out of prison while he appealed his case. In a document released on Friday in the case of Bannon, Stephen K. V. United States, a judge wrote in a one page order, "The application for release pending appeal presented to The Chief Justice and by him referred to the Court is denied."
The longtime political adviser to former President Donald Trump submitted the request earlier this summer, Scripps News reported.

A federal appeals court had previously refused to delay Bannon's four-month prison sentence, ordering him to report to jail by July 1.
In a similar scenario, Peter Navarro, a former White House official under the Trump administration, reported to federal prison in March after being sentenced to four months for contempt of Congress.
Both Navarro and Bannon were convicted of defying a Congressional subpoena requesting documents related to a House investigation into riots on the U.S. Capitol.
