CLEVELAND — The annual "Homeless Stand Down" event is pivoting from its large in-person event to creating care packages for anyone experiencing poverty. Due to COVID-19, Business Volunteers Unlimited is hosting a care package drive in an effort to help those in need.

The Cleveland Cares Packages will contain a variety of items including essential, clothing, nonperishable food and other items that make anyone feel cared for and noticed.

Service organizations like medical, dental and legal will provide a list of services in a guidebook that will be included in the care packages.

There are currently requests for care packages from eight locations for over 1,400 individuals.

The completed care packages will be distributed the second week of February to community partners that will directly give the packages to anyone experiencing homelessness.

While all volunteer shifts are filled, you can still donate money at https://handson.bvuvolunteers.org/homelessstanddown.
