CLEVELAND — News 5 is helping Northeast Ohio rebound from the coronavirus pandemic by helping people find jobs. We are profiling companies hiring right now.
Lighthouse Insurance Group in Independence is currently hiring a lot of people for their upcoming busy season. Open enrollment for health insurance in 2021 starts in the fall and they say they need to have enough people in place to handle the phone lines and help their members and customers navigate the market.
"We're looking for junior agents," said Jason Farro, Lighthouse CEO. "These individuals do not have to be licensed in health and life, but somebody that is looking for a new career, and likes sales and likes helping people. We would get them licensed and get them trained to become an agent."
They pay for pay for all of it, says Farro. He said the licensing piece takes 40 hours and then the training is anywhere from two to four weeks.
A junior agent is an entry-level position. Farro said pay is about $15 an hour, plus bonus and benefits. He said that puts the average first-year salary at the $40,000-$60,000 mark.
Farro said you're on the phone a lot with this job. He said it's not cold-calling, but you need energy and confidence on the line.
"We train you to understand the products, but we need somebody to have that compassion, that drive," he said. "That they want to help someone and put them in the right plan that they know is going to be beneficial to them and their family.”
Farro said everyone who applies gets a phone call where they screen you to see if you'll move on to an in-person interview, which does include a face mask right now.
