STREETSBORO, Ohio — Headquartered in Streetsboro, Step2 has been filling homes with colorful play items since 1991. But it's filling a whole new need for families in 2020.
"We have a high demand for our products due to COVID-19," said Errin Marigney, plant manager.
Marigney said more families at home means more at-home play. Demand for their products has soared and so have their hiring needs.
"We're looking to hire over 100 people at both our Streetsboro and our Perrysville, Ashland County site," he said.
Ashley DeSantis has worked at Step2 for two years. She is a zone leader.
"I love the people," she said. "It's a family environment. Everyone gets along. No drama. Good pay. Pay is nice and the benefits are great. I love it!"
There is another perk this mom of three boys appreciates, too.
"We get great, great discounts on all the toys, yeah," she said.
Annie Diehl says she can't help but think about when the kids get the stuff she's boxing up.
"Just imagining how they're going to open their toys and play with them and enjoy them— it just brings me joy," she said.
She has worked in assembly for a little more than a year. Assembly is one of the main positions Step2 is hiring for right now.
"It's not an easy job," said Diehl. "It's one you have to work at, but if you put in the time to work at it, you'll love it here."
Step2 said their pay rates are based on skill.
Assembly positions start at $13 per hour but have the potential for an increase after 30 days.
ROTO positions start at $15 per hour without experience and have the potential to go up to $22 per hour.
The company also offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus, as well as a range of benefits.
Step2 says you could be working within a week of applying. If you're interested, you do have to have a background check and a drug screen.
