CLEVELAND — Cleveland Indians player Jason Kipnis will be returning to a position he is used to playing this season.
In a press conference in Arizona on Monday, manager Terry Francona said Kipnis will be playing second base.
Kipnis was moved to the outfield at the end of last season after the Indians acquired Josh Donaldson.
"He even offered to go back and forth, which I appreciated. I don't know how fair that is to him. I told him if something ever changed that we would talk to him," Francona said.
The Tribe moved Jose Ramirez to second base to allow Donaldson to play third base.
Donaldson signed with the Atlanta Braves during the offseason, which allows Ramirez to move back to third and Kipnis to move back to second.
