In Tito We Trust.
It’s already on a T-shirt. I’d buy it. More importantly, all of us in Cleveland are buying into Tito because we’re sold on the decisions he’s making. We’ve been sold for some time now.
He’s one of the best managers in the history of baseball. Two World Series trophies. Stands up for his players. Knows how to have fun. Speaks candidly in the media. He gets it.
And because he gets it. We are getting to see a team of 25 guys deliver one of the best seasons in Cleveland baseball history.
This team is fun to watch because Tito is fun to play for. Every single player tells me the same. They love playing for Tito. He communicates well. He’s upfront with players which is extremely important during a 162-game season and postseason.
Terry Francona is pulling all of the right strings. Hitting all of the right buttons. i.e. brought in Andrew Miller in the 5th inning of game 1 of the ALDS. He started rookie Ryan Merritt in game 5 of the ALCS and the Indians clinched. Merritt had all of 11 big-league innings under his belt before that start in Toronto. Tito triggered a team that has 2 healthy starters advance to the World Series.
Another reason to love Tito. He rides a scooter and has an affinity for popsicles. Once ate 17 popsicles in one sitting. True story.
Now, he’s trying to author a story-book-ending. Deliver Cleveland’s first world series title in 68 years.
