CLEVELAND — Indians relief pitcher Óliver Pérez and his wife officially became United States citizens over the weekend.
The Indians posted pictures of Pérez and his wife Luz showing their citizenship certificates to their Facebook page, congratulating the couple on their citizenship.
Pérez, a native of Culiacan in Sinaloa, Mexico, made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2002, and played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals before being signed with the Indians in 2018.
The Indians re-signed Pérez to a one-year contract on January 25 of this year.
