The Indians have placed right-handed starting pitcher Trevor Bauer on the 10-day Disabled List due to a right fibula stress fracture, according to a news release from the team.

The placement on the Disabled List is retroactive to August 12. Bauer, 27, was struck on the right leg by a batted ball in the bottom of the 7th inning in the August 11 game in Chicago.

Bauer, a Cy Young contender, currently leads the American League in innings pitched, home ERA, games started and quality starts. He ranks second in strikeouts, third in ERA, fourth in strikeouts-per-9-innings-pitched and fifth in opponent batting average.

This marks the first Disabled List stint of Bauer’s MLB career.

The Indians have recalled left-handed pitcher Tyler Olson from Columbus’ AAA team, the Clippers.
