Indians outfielder Leonys Martin is expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday after fighting a life-threatening bacterial infection.
Doctors determined Martin had a bacterial infection that entered his bloodstream and created toxins that damaged his internal organs, compromising their function, according to the Associated Press.
Last week, team president Chris Antonetti said the infection "was very serious."
“It progressed rapidly,” Antonetti said. “It was life-threatening."
