CLEVELAND — Clevelanders have proven themselves to be very loyal when it comes to sports, and in a study from The Cost Guys, it appears the wallets of Cleveland fans are loyal too. The study found that the Indians are the least affordable team to support in Major League Baseball.
By taking the average cost of four tickets, four drinks and four hot dogs then dividing that by the average hourly salary for the area, the study determined how many hours of work required to afford to take a family to a game.
While the Indians don’t have the highest ticket prices or concession prices, Cleveland has the lowest median income, meaning fans have to work the most hours to afford a game, according to the study.
The study found that it takes 6.4 hours of work to afford to head to Progressive Field to catch a game.
Here are the top 10 least affordable teams to support, according to The Cost Guys:
- Cleveland Indians
- Chicago Cubs
- Tampa Bay Rays
- Boston Red Sox
- St. Louis Cardinals
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- New York Yankees
- Cincinnati Reds
- Milwaukee Brewers
- Houston Astros
Cleveland isn’t big on bandwagons, but, in any case, these 10 teams have are the most affordable teams to support:
- Atlanta Braves
- Washington Nationals
- Texas Rangers
- Chicago White Sox
- Arizona Diamondbacks
- Seattle Mariners
- Minnesota Twins
- San Francisco Giants
- Colorado Rockies
- Baltimore Orioles
The Indians might be the least affordable to support when it comes to the cost to attend a game in relation to your income, but it costs nothing to support your team without being at Progressive Field, and isn't that what truly matters?
