Cavs' Cedi Osman uses 3-pointers to raise $10,000 for victims of earthquake in Turkey

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Cedi Osman raised money for victims of the earthquake that hit Turkey Friday night during the Cavaliers game against the Chicago Bulls.

Osman, a Turkish native, announced that he would be donating $100 for every 3-pointer made by both the Cavaliers and the Bulls Saturday night to earthquake victims in Turkey.

A few hours after Osman made his pledge, Cavaliers center Larry Nance Jr. joined in on the generosity, informing Osman that he would donate $200 for every 3-pointer made. Osman matched Nance's doantion, bringing the total to $400 for every 3-pointer made.

The death toll from the strong earthquake that rocked eastern Turkey has climbed to 22 as rescue teams continue searching the rubble of collapsed buildings for survivors, according to officials.

The country's health minister said Saturday that some 1,103 people were injured in the quake centered near the town of Sivrice. Various earthquake monitoring centers gave magnitudes ranging from 6.5 to 6.8. for the earthquake.

At the end of the game, the Cavs and Bulls collectively made 25 3-pointers, meaning Osman and Nance will donate a total of $10,000 to help victims of the earthquake.
