CLEVELAND — The sports injuries are piling up in Cleveland. While the Browns are dealing with more than their fair share, the bad luck has spread to the Cavaliers, who will see two starters out for several weeks with injuries—point guard Darius Garland and forward Evan Mobley.

Garland sustained a head injury Thursday night in the game against the Boston Celtics. The guard collided with center Kristaps Porzingis and left the game but returned and continued playing.

However, Garland's injury was more severe than expected with his return. Scans revealed Garland suffered a fractured jaw on Thursday and is expected to miss several weeks while he recuperates from a procedure to heal the fracture.

This season, Garland has been averaging 20.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game, shooting 47% from the field and 34.6% from three.

The Cavs will reevaluate Garland in approximately four weeks.

Meanwhile, Mobley, who had missed four straight games dealing with a knee injury, will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on the injury on Monday. More imaging on the knee and rehab indicated that the procedure, which will remove a loose body, was the best course of action to alleviate discomfort in his knee.

That procedure is expected to sideline Mobley for six to eight weeks.

Mobley is averaging 16 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 57% from the field and 20% from three.

The Cavs are on a three-game losing streak, falling to the Celtics twice this week and to the Magic on Monday. Cleveland has a 13-12 record this season, and with the loss of Garland and Mobley for a significant amount of time, the team's struggles this season could get worse before they get better.

Friday is a day off for the Cavs, who return home for their next matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
