CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers are guaranteed a top-six pick in the 2019 NBA Draft after winning a tiebreaker with the Phoenix Suns.

Before the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery takes place in May, the league needed to finalize the order. On Friday, the Cavs entered a tiebreaker with the Suns, who also held a record of 19-63 for the 2018-2019 season. In a random drawing, the Cavs were selected over the Suns.

The Cavs will enter the draft lottery in the No. 2 spot.

With the new draft format, the Cavs, Suns and New York Knicks all have the same 14 percent odds of winning the lottery, but with this tiebreaker, the Cavs will not draft any higher than sixth while the Suns now will not draft any higher than seventh.
