CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers and Monsters will be able to host more fans at their games beginning Friday after the state approved a variance allowing increased capacity.
A new variance, approved by the State of Ohio, will allow Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to operate at a 14% capacity, allowing 2,720 fans per game in the arena.
Previously, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse was operating at a 10% variance, allowing close to 2,000 fans to attend both Cavs and Monsters games.
When the season first began, there was a limit of 300 fans per game.
The new variance begins Friday, in time for the Cavs game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Monsters are scheduled to play their next game on Friday, Feb. 12 after the team had two away games postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
