CLEVELAND — The National Basketball Association has postponed the Cleveland Cavaliers games to be played against the Washington Wizards due to COVID-19.

The games scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 17 and Monday, Jan. 18 at Capital One Arena have been postponed “in accordance with the league’s Health and Safety Protocols.”

Washington is currently dealing with a COVID-19 situation and the team is currently working to complete contact tracing.

Due to their situation, the Wizards will not have the required minimum of eight players available, therefore both games against the Cavaliers had to be postponed.

The Wizards had their Friday game against the Detroit Pistons postponed as well.

Cleveland hosts the New York Knicks on Friday and will take the court again, after the recent postponements, on Wednesday, Jan. 20 against the Brooklyn Nets.
