Baker Mayfield came to Berea this week, and the No. 1 pick spent some time on the field.

He also spent time talking to reporters.

“It’s an exciting feeling right now. There is a lot of buzz going around, which is great for the team.” Mayfield said.

About the high expectations
“It’s earning the respect of the veterans in the locker room,” he said.  “You have to go to work you have to put the time in, you have to learn the playbook, and then when you get the opportunity you have to show you are there for a reason.”

About his height
“At this point, it is not about size,” the rookie quarterback said. “If you know your job and you can do it and you can execute it, it is about winning.”

About Tyrod Taylor
“They brought him and I because we are both team-oriented guys,” Mayfield said. “He is the starter and all I can do is help us out.”

About being a No. 1 pick but having the mentality of a walk-on
“It doesn’t matter how you get there, everyone here has the same opportunity,” he said. “It doesn’t matter where I was drafted, you start over.”
