CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns CB Kevin Johnson was discharged from University Hospitals Friday after suffering a lacerated liver at practice Wednesday, according to the team.
Johnson sustained an abdominal injury after another player landed on him during practice Wednesday. He was admitted to University Hospitals that afternoon and tested and results indicated that Johnson sustained a laceration to his liver.
The Browns said Johnson will be back with the team in the coming days but must go through the proper COVID-19 testing protocols before he’s allowed to return to the Berea facility.
Johnson’s playing status will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, the team said.
Johnson signed with the Browns in March after spending one season with the Bills. He spent his first four seasons with the Texans and Johnson, a former first-round pick out of Wake Forest, comes to Cleveland after one season with the Bills.
