CLEVELAND — In yet another blow to the team's defense, Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward will be sidelined with a calf injury, according to the Associated Press's Cleveland sports reporter.

Ward underwent an MRI on Monday.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo first reported that Ward is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.

This news means the Browns will be without their two best defenders Sunday when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Myles Garrett will be ruled out for the second consecutive game because he was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list.

Ward had an outstanding performance Sunday in the win over Philadelphia.

"I really thought the defense set the tempo in that game. Three takeaways, scoring on defense, five sacks—OV [Olivier Vernon] having three of them. I thought Denzel Ward was outstanding, four PBUs [pass break-ups] and a pick himself," Stefanski said. "The guys were flying around. I thought they did a great job, really proud of those guys."
