CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns announced that the team has placed punter Jamie Gillan on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The reserve list category was created for players who test positive for the virus or who have been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person.
Players who fall under either category are required to be immediately placed on the list, the team said.
The team is not permitted to comment on any players’ medical status other than referring to the special COVID-19 reserve list, according to the team.
Gillan, a fan favorite after his remarkable performances last season, played in all 16 games and set a Browns single-season net punting record with a 41.6 average. He finished his rookie season tied for fifth in club history with 28 punts inside the 20.
The Browns previously announced that they had placed running back Dontrell Hilliard and safety Javonte Moffatt on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
