Former Browns QB Manziel makes his Canadian League debut

Posted

Browns fans remember Johnny Manziel as one of the first round draft picks that never panned out. He never turned into anything for the city of Cleveland, but is getting his chance north of the border.

Manziel was released by Cleveland in 2016 and had been looking for his next opportunity.

In May he signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Catsof the CFL in hopes of restarting his path back to the NFL.

Friday night, the man once nicknamed Johnny Football made his preseason debut with the team.

He completed 9 of 11 passes for 80 yards in five offensive possessions, but wasn't able to put any points on the board.

His team lost to the Toronto Argonauts 36-18.

Manziel's speech seems to be the same as his time in the NFL as he had this to say:

"Listen, I'm not here to be pushed over," he said. "You can come at me 'cause my name's in the papers, because my name's on TV. You can come at me, [but] I'm not backing down. I'm here for a reason. I'm here to play ball. I'm not gonna be treated like s---."
