OBJ takes bite out of Big Apple in Browns' Monday night win

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — Amid the drama that has surrounded him over the last week, Browns’ star wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. came out shining under the prime-time lights.

Redemption was on the minds of the Browns, who entered the “Monday Night Football” game against the New York Jets coming off a blow out loss to the Titans the week before. Since that loss, Odell has found himself in the headlines over his wearing of watches and accusations of dirty play from former Browns coaches.

With quarterback Baker Mayfield completing just 19 of his 35 attempts and recording his fourth interception of the season, the offense was mostly lackluster, apart from some big runs from Nick Chubb and of course, the explosiveness of Beckham, who proved he is more than tabloid talk—he’s pure talent.

In his first game at MetLife Stadium since his trade from the Giants, who share the stadium with the Jets, Beckham had six receptions Monday night for 161 yards and a touchdown—an 89-yard touchdown to be exact, the longest of his career.

The touchdown was impressive, as was his 33-yard one-handed catch on the sideline in the first quarter that set kicker Austin Seibert up for one of his three successful field goals of the night and gave the Browns their first points of the night.

Beckham made sure Jets' defensive coordinator Gregg Williams knew his name and reminded New York fans what they lost in his departure to Cleveland.

While the offense still needs some improvement, Beckham and the Browns got it done in their 23-win over the Jets.

Say what you will about Beckham and any “distractions” you might think he brings to a team—the man delivers a spark to an offense looking to catch fire.
