CLEVELAND — We just entered a new year, but a Cleveland Monsters promotion will make you feel like you just traveled back in time.

On Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, the Cleveland Monsters hockey team will pay homage to the International Hockey League team, the Cleveland Lumberjacks, that played in the city from 1992 to 2001.

The Lumberjacks relocated to Cleveland from Muskegon, Michigan, bringing professional hockey back to Cleveland for the first time in 14 years.

Former overall-wearing, hockey stick-wielding beaver mascot “Buzz” will make his return during the two nights the Monsters transform into the Lumberjacks.

Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will feature Lumberjack memorabilia and the curtain will be lit up in teal, as will Terminal Tower.

On both nights the Monsters become the Lumberjacks, the team will take on the Milwaukee Admirals.

The first game on Jan. 3 will be played at 7 p.m. while the Jan. 4 game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
