COLUMBUS, Ohio — The University of Akron women's basketball season opener against Ohio State was canceled.
"I feel for the student-athletes for both teams who have been working so hard towards opening their seasons tomorrow," Akron head coach Melissa Jackson said. "The health and safety of our student-athletes is our top priority, and we will continue to put their safety first and follow all protocols in place. I'm hopeful that we can reschedule the game against Ohio State in the coming weeks."
The Zips will now start their season on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at home against Northern Kentucky.
The university did not say why the game was canceled.
