KENT, Ohio — New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is now a college graduate.

Edelman received his diploma during Kent State's commencement ceremony.

According to KentWired.com, Edelman is listed in the student directory as a senior integrated studies major.

He announced that he would be walking the stage at commencement this weekend on his Facebook page.

In his post, Edelman said he wanted to set a great example for his daughter and fulfill a promise he made to his parents over 10 years ago.

Edelman spent three years as a quarterback at Kent State, throwing for nearly 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns from 2006 to 2008. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round and morphed roles with the team, turning into a three-time Super Bowl champion at the wide receiver position.
