COLUMBUS — Among the many memorable traditions Ohio State University has surrounding its football games, the Script Ohio is the most popular, and it debuted 83 years ago.
In a crazy twist, the very first "Script Ohio" was performed by the school's biggest rival. The University of Michigan performed "Script Ohio" during a 1932 game at Ohio Stadium, according to the Ohio State University archives.
The Ohio State band performed it for the first time in on October 24, 1936, in a game against Michigan.
The moving formation starts with a revolving “O” at the beginning, then it curves into a formation of the word “Ohio” and the “dotting of the i.”
