Ohio State is not headed to the College Football Playoffs.

Despite winning the Big Ten Championship for the second year in a row, Ohio State was unable to get into the CFP Final Four.

The committee chose the following teams to play for the national championship:

  • No. 1 Alabama (13-0)
  • No. 2 Clemson (13-0)
  • No. 3 Notre Dame (12-0)
  • No. 4 Oklahoma (12-1)

Georgia was ranked ahead of Ohio State with the number 5 spot, with the Buckeyes remaining sixth in the selection committee's final top 25.

Alabama and Oklahoma are headed to the Orange Bowl, and a semifinal showdown in the College Football Playoff.

This is the second time that the Orange Bowl has been the site of a CFP semifinal. Top-seeded Clemson beat fourth-seeded Oklahoma 37-17 in 2015.

The other CFP semifinal this season is at the Cotton Bowl, where second-seeded Clemson will face third-seeded Notre Dame in a battle of unbeatens.

Ohio State is likely headed to the Rose Bowl.
