CLEVELAND — Ohio State running back Trey Sermon was transported to the hospital Monday night after suffering an apparent shoulder injury during the Buckeyes first drive of the College Football Playoff Championship.

Sermon was injured on his only carry, which went for 2 yards on first down.

In the Big Ten Title game, Sermon's 331 yards were the most rushing yards in any conference championship game in FBS history and broke Ohio State's single-game record, previously held by 1995 Heisman Trophy-winner Eddie George.

Ohio State is currently tide 14-14 with Alabama with less than 12 minutes to go in the first half.
