CLEVELAND — The Indians minor league affiliates the Lake County Captains and Akron RubberDucks announced their schedules for the 2021 season.

The Captains, Cleveland’s new High-A affiliate, open their season on the road, taking on the Lansing Lugnuts, the affiliate of the Oakland A’s, on May 4. Lake County’s home opener is scheduled for May 11 against the Fort Wayne TinCaps, the San Diego Padres affiliate.

In their new league, the Captains will take on opponents from the High-A Central league, who were all previously part of the Midwest League.

The Captains will play a 120-game schedule in the season that runs from May 4 through Sept. 19.

Cleveland’s Double-A affiliate, the RubberDucks, will also play a 120-game season that kicks off on May 4 at Canal Park against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

The RubberDucks are now part of the Double-A Northeast League, featuring the same Eastern League opponents aside from the Somerset Patriots.

Akron’s season includes numerous holiday home games, including a Fourth of July game and Labor Day Weekend games.

The Captains and RubberDucks are expected to have reduced capacity for fans, but numbers have not been announced at this time.
