Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will undergo elbow surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season, NFL representatives confirmed.

“Ben Roethlisberger had an MRI on his right elbow Sunday evening and it was determined by the Steelers’ medical team that surgery will be required,” Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement on the team’s website Monday. “We expect the surgery will be scheduled for this week. He will be placed on our Reserve/Injured List and is out for the season.”

Roethlisberger visibly grimaced after throwing a pair of passes on a drive late in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, and did not play in the second quarter.

Roethlisberger had 351 yards, no touchdowns and threw one interception in his first two games of the 2019 season.
