TRAFFIC BLOG: Mix of snow, ice and rain make for messy roads in Northeast Ohio

As the winter storm continues to move across Northeast Ohio, freezing rain and flooding are causing road closures.

3:40 p.m. The Vermilion River is beginning to flood in the Riverside Drive area. Residents should move their cars and be prepared to evacuate.

3:36 p.m. Crash on eastbound Turnpike in Boston Heights 

1:05 p.m.—I-90 eastbound at McKinley has reopened to traffic.

12:00 p.m.— Fairmount Blvd westbound at Gates Mills Circle is closed due to high water.

11:30 a.m.— McKinley Avenue ramp to I-90 EB is shut down due to extremely high standing water.

The Rocky River Fire Department reports an ice jam on Rock River, causing flooding concerns for traffic and residents near the area.

Ohio Department of Transportation crews are dumping salt on primary roads before tackling neighborhood streets.

10:30 a.m.— High water on I-90 eastbound before Warren Road and Bunts closes one lane.
