According to the Warrensville Heights Police Department, officers were responding to a crash on the freeway when another vehicle lost control and struck a cruiser and an officer outside the car.

"One officer is now in stable condition, and the other officer was treated and released," authorities said.

Police urge motorists to slow down when approaching emergency scenes.

The westbound lanes were reopened shortly before 12:30 p.m.
