MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — If summer is winding down, the construction season surely is not. Beginning today, drivers who travel through the intersection of Mayfield and SOM Center road may want to leave a smidge early.

Construction crews will begin repaving the intersection today. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in multiple directions.

The construction zone is a busy intersection just off of I-271 near the Eastgate shopping center, Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital and a Walmart.

City officials are warning residents about the potential impact to their drive.

If you’re getting on and off the highway, depending on where you're going, you may be better served by using the Wilson Mills Road entrace/exit.

The road work could last up to 30 days.
