VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation has completed the next step for the Valley View Bridge Project.

The new bridge built in the middle of the two existing structures is done and now traffic will be shifting.

ODOT is asking drivers to pay attention this weekend because beginning Friday night, the ramps from I-77 northbound and southbound to I-480 east will be closed.

That’s because they are shifting traffic to the new structure.

If you usually take I-77 south to get to I-40 east, take the Jennings Freeway. If you’re headed northbound on I-77, go west on I-480 and turn around at Brookpark Road.

When it’s all said and done, three bridges will carry 12 lanes of traffic across the Valley View Bridge, six in each direction.

"The major work is replacing the driving surfaces. They're over 40 years old and they've reached the end of their useful life. So it's time to replace the decks and it's nice the way that these bridges were constructed, we don't have to build them from the ground up,” said Amanda McFarland, a spokesperson for ODOT.
