National Weather Service issues Flash Flood Warning for several Northeast Ohio counties

CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for multiple counties in Northeast Ohio.

The following counties are under a Flash Flood Warning until 10:15 p.m.:

  • Cuyahoga
  • Lorain
  • Medina
  • Summit
  • Lake
  • Geauga

Motorists should look out for flooded roads.

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood warning for the Cuyahoga River at Independence until Saturday afternoon.

Bainbridge Road in North Ridgeville has been closed between Root Road and state Route 83 with more roads expected to close due to flooding, according to North Ridgeville police.

State Route 58 between Butternut Ridge Road and State Route 511 has been closed in Oberlin, according to the Oberlin Police Department.

A Flood Advisory has been issued for Ashtabula County until 9:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

An Areal Flood Advisory has also been issued for Lorain, Lake, Erie, Cuyahoga, Medina and Geauga counties from 4:51 to 7:45 p.m. According to the NWS, "excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots."

Additionally, a Lakeshore Flood Watch has been issued from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday for Erie County.
