NWS issues High Wind Watch for counties across Northeast Ohio

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for several counties across Northeast Ohio that will begin Monday morning.

The following counties are under a High Wind Watch effective from 6 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Monday evening:

  • Ashtabula
  • Richland
  • Medina
  • Summit
  • Ashland
  • Wayne
  • Lorain
  • Geauga

The following counties are under a High Wind Watch effective from 6 a.m. Monday to 11 p.m. Monday night:

  • Lake
  • Ashtabula (Lakeshore)

Winds can reach up to 20 to 30 mph with gusts reaching up to 60 mph, the NWS said.

Residents in the counties under the watch should be cautious of damaging winds that could blow down trees and power lines, causing potential power outages, according to the NWS.

Traveling in certain vehicles may become difficult due to the high winds, so motorists should also take caution Monday, the NWS said.
