News 5 Meteorologist Mark Johnson said that a weak frontal boundary will stay close to Lake Erie and Northern Ohio today. Highs top out in the lower 90s in some areas. The heat, combined with the weak front, plus humidity coming from the Gulf of Mexico, will make the area prime for “pop-up” thunderstorms this afternoon.
Tonight, a line of thunderstorms may develop over Canada and slide south across Lake Erie into Ohio, Johnson aid. Those storms could also produce damaging winds.
