Here's what we know so far in terms of a timeline.
FRIDAY MORNING: The morning drive should be fine. It will be warm with scattered showers.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING: A sleet/freezing rain/snow mix starts to develop, meaning it could get nasty on the roads for your drive home. That will change over completely to snow in the evening.
Several inches of snow are expected Friday evening. The exact amount is unclear but the average will be about 4-8 inches across the area. Some spots could see more.
The important thing to remember is that this snow will be on top of a layer of ice. So roads, sidewalks and driveways could be dangerous.
Moral of the story — you should probably stay in Friday night.
SATURDAY MORNING: The snow will taper off but it will get very cold once again. Temperatures will be in the teens and it will be windy.
